AIR RAID VICTIM

The victim of a recent air raid in England was Lord Glanely, one of the world's best known followers of the turf. Interested in racing as an official, breeder and owner, he won the Derby in I<Jl9 with Grand Parade, sire of Grand Knight, who was imported to New Zealand to figure as a crack racehorse and successful sire in an all too short stud career. Grand Knight was the sire of the Southlandbred and owned Sir Simper, now ranked as a successful sire, after brilliant racecourse deeds in Australia. Not only did Lord Glanely breed good horses, but he was one of the most enterprising buyers of yearlings at auction in England.
